Rare piece of 1960’s/1970’s “Swinging London” fashion history.
This is an original plaid tailored jacket from John Stephen, famously known as the “King of Carnaby Street.”
The Story & Labels:
This jacket features the iconic John Stephen label alongside a secondary retailer label: “Barney Levinthal”.
During the height of the Mod revolution, John Stephen expanded into high-end international wholesale.
This specific jacket was an exclusive import piece curated for the upscale Barney Levinthal menswear boutique in South Africa, marking it as a fantastic, globally travelled collector’s item.
Era: Late 1960’s / Early 1970’s Peacock Revolution

Features: Exaggerated wide lapels typical of the era, button front, tailored cut.
Material: Authentic vintage Terylene (the classic 60’s British polyester that stays perfectly crisp).
