The jacket was made for Michael Pitt-Rivers who was famous for his involvement in the 1954 Montagu Trial. The severity and publicity of this trial contributed to the government’s decision to establish the Wolfenden Committee. The committee’s subsequent 1957 report recommended the decriminalisation of homosexuality, eventually leading to the Sexual Offences Act 1967. A genuine piece of UK social history.
